Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and social capital with organizational commitment and job performance among employees of Farhangian University in Khuzestan Province. The research population consisted of all staff members of this university in Khuzestan, from which a sample of 450 individuals was selected using multi-stage cluster sampling. Data were collected using standardized questionnaires, including the emotional intelligence questionnaire, job performance questionnaire, organizational commitment questionnaire, and social capital questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out using canonical correlation and stepwise regression methods. The results showed that among the components, self-regulation from emotional intelligence (β = -0.30) negatively predicted job performance, while the cognitive dimension of social capital (β = 0.28) positively and significantly predicted job performance. Additionally, motivation from emotional intelligence (β = 0.28) and the relational dimension of social capital (β = 0.25) significantly predicted organizational commitment. These findings highlight the importance of paying simultaneous attention to emotional intelligence and social capital in enhancing job performance and organizational commitment. It is recommended that in administrative and educational environments, in addition to focusing on cognitive talents, practical measures should be taken to train social and life skills and promote emotional and social development of learners. Such efforts can help improve not only job performance and organizational commitment of the Farhangian University employees in Khuzestan but also strengthen their social responsibility and promote their mental health and psychological well-being.
